Mayor requests Justice Dept. launches additional civil rights investigation - WBFF Fox Baltimore - Top Stories
Updated: Wed, May 06 2015, 07:30 PM Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake asked the Justice Department to launch another civil rights investigation on Wednesday. This one would center around the Baltimore Police Department. Last week, U.S. Congressman Elijah Cummings made a similar request. Two federal probes are currently pending. Last October, the Mayor asked the Justice Department to conduct a review of the Baltimore Police Department. Just last month, following the death of Freddie Gray, the Department of Justice announced it would be reviewing the force. This investigation proposed by the Mayor would look into whether city officers have been engaged in stops, searches or arrests patterns that violate the Fourth Amendment.
